FERMENTATIONEXPERTS INC has been awarded a United States Department ofAgriculture (USDA) Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) ConservationInnovation Grant (CIG) to develop Controlled Fermented Liquid Feeding (CFLF) inthe United States. The utilization of CFLF is beneficial for:
CFLF is now functional on the first demonstration farm as determined bypH level of pig feed and the absence of yeast activity in the fermented liquidfeed. The feed ‘tastes good’ to the pigs. The lactic acid forming bacteriathat ferment the feed make lactic acid that drop the pH of the feed to below4.0. This reduces enteric bacteria load and allows for a healthier pig gut. These lactic acid forming bacteria are similar to the ones that allowmanufacture of yogurt. They ferment milk into sweet, tangy, slightly sour yogurtthat is preserved. Yogurt or other fermented milk products do not losefreshness rapidly as do raw milk products. The same is true of otherfermentable food coproducts. The lactic acid forming bacteria allows for tastepigs like and preservation of the feed.
