Mortality and consumption of medication

In collaboration with Dr. Ronald Scholten (University of Leuven) and Nutreco, one of the largest feed factories in Europe, FERMENTATIONEXPERTS has conducted studies centred on mortality and consumption of medication (see the bottom section of the chart).

 

The results showed a fall in mortality among weaners: from 1.1% with normal feed to 0% with fermentation – what more could you ask? Moreover, the results indicated a significant reduction in the consumption of medication (Tiamutin) for the treatment of diarrhoea in the herd that received fermented feed.

It should be stressed that the trial was conducted using cheaper feedstuffs than usual (sunflower seeds as the protein source is cheaper than soya). However, the ingredients were still of good quality. Other trials have been carried out using even cheaper feedstuffs than those used in this study, which nevertheless generated similar results.
