Earn approximately DKK 50 more per porker

It is well known that pig production in Denmark is under pressure. By using Controlled Fermented Liquid Feeding, farmers have the potential to earn an extra DKK 50 per porker. This is a significant increase, taking into account the current conditions in the sector.

But how? Lactic acid fermentation releases approximately 8–12% more digestible energy and protein, depending on the grain and type of protein (the lower the original digestibility, the higher the digestibility that can be achieved through lactic acid fermentation; for example, it will be possible to release more protein in rapeseed than in soya). The process also makes phosphorus more digestible. If phosphorus is present, it can be released with up to 80% digestibility.

 

Where do the savings come from?

The calculation of the savings mentioned above is primarily based on the following key figures:

  • 8% less feed consumption: Approximately 235 FEsv are used from 30 kg to 114 kg. Each FEsv costs approx. DKK 1.25, so DKK 1.25 x 235 FEsv x 8% = DKK 23.5 per porker.
  • Reduced protein consumption: If rapeseed and sunflower seeds are used instead of soya, the calculation is as follows (if the ratio price is the same): 12% improved protein digestibility means savings of around 7 kg of rapeseed (equivalent to DKK 12) per pig.
  • Phosphorus: Phosphorus is normally present in both the grain and the protein. The duty and the phosphorus itself normally amount to around DKK 10.

In addition, it is normally possible to control Lawsonia. It is difficult to put a price on health, but even though there is often no visible problem with Lawsonia, chronic Lawsonia can cause dissimilar pigs. Øg tilvæksten

Udover de reducerede foderomkostninger er fermentering også godt for mavesundheden. Det er simpel biologi; ingen bakterier overlever en pH på under 4,0 (se skemaet). Fodring med fuldfermenteret foder udrydder mavesygdomme såsom salmonella og e-coli. Og som bekendt øger en god sundhedsstatus også overskuddet, simpelthen fordi sunde grise vokser bedre.
